STUDENTS AT PREMPEH COLLEGE UNDERGO FREE SICKLE CELL SCREENING

About two thousands Students at the Prempeh College in Kumasi of the Ashanti Region of Ghana were educated on sickle cell disease which was organized by ANAQ Foundation.
This gesture happens to be one of the core aims of the Foundation to educate especially school children on the diseases and how to live a happier and healthier life as a Sickle Cells Patient. ANAQ Foundation over the years has been visiting schools within and outside the region for educational and screening purposes together with a number of health experts.
The Health screening was incorporated with Health Talks on Nutrition and other peculiar ailments which were worth educating.

Addressing the students before screening, The President and Founder of ANAQ Foundation, Mrs. Ama Nyarko Attafuah Quainoo was worried how most Ghanaians have refused to go for check up to know their SCD Status and are always concern apart knowing their status of other diseases.
She believed if the young ones are educated on the diseases and screened, the rate at which more babies are born with the diseases will declined.

Talking about hostility , Mrs Attafuah Quainoo was a bit satisfied over the rate and she was confidence the rate at which people who are living with SCD are neglected will come down to a barest minimum as time goes on.
“Who said People with SCD die younger than their ages, it is never true. All you need is to take your medications and eat well. Eating WELL is very essential in the life of SCD patients so eat balanced foods to give you more energy” she added.

The students after the presentations asked questions to get answers to their problems they have when it comes to Sickle Cell Diseases.
